Our mission ministry focuses on meeting basic human needs: hunger relief, blankets for refugees, food and shelter for the homeless, and care for needy children and the elderly. Our fundraising and mission projects would not have been nearly so successful if not for the welcome support of the congregation. Thanks to all who assisted we were able to ship many beautiful articles to:
| Church World Service (for overseas, mainly Africa),2 boxes baby layette items | |
| AIDS Family Services, Buffalo, NY, 2 boxes clothing for babies and toddlers | |
| Chautauqua County Rural Ministry, Dunkirk, NY, 3 boxes baby blankets and dozens of warm woolen hats and mittens for children | |
| R. W. Johnson Health Care Center, 2 boxes colorful afghans and lap robes for nursing home residents |
We also made financial contributions to many agencies. All of these donations carry God's love to those in need around the world.
Our activities are funded through member offerings and the proceeds of the Spring Yard Sale and the Fall Festival. The Spring Yard Sale is always a grand day, with families from our congregation at outdoor tables selling treasures from their attics, and generously donating the proceeds to our mission work. At the Fall Festival, with the help of many kind volunteers, we offer the Tea Room, long a popular feature at South Church fairs. We also have tables of handcrafts and gifts, jams and jellies, soups and baked goods, with many helping hands in assistance. The proceeds from these, as well as donations from the vendors and the SERRV gift sales, enable us to continue our work.
The Women's Association assists with the Spring and Fall Blood Banks held at our Church House, serving refreshments to the donors. Our group is always represented as leadership to Presbyterian Women of the Palisades as well as PW-Synod of the Northeast.
We thank God for the ability to serve in His name and ask His blessing upon our work and our Church in the years ahead. We also remember with love those who are no longer able to participate in our activities, but who set the example for us in their past service.
